                                                             When Insults Had Class

These glorious insults are from an era before the English language got boiled down to 4-letter words.

The exchange between Churchill & Lady Astor:

She said, "If you were my husband I'd give you poison." He said, "If you were my wife, I'd drink it."

有意思!
我在澳洲就读的那个系和那个大学的英语系在一个楼里,那个系编辑的英文字典非常有名。有个老师送了我一本澳洲“脏话字典”,搜集了许多脏话,并介绍了渊源,比绅士们的直截了当的很多。
