the scanning resolution depends on what the scanner can offer. nikon super coolscan can go up to 4000 dpi.
but,
It doesn't matter what your screen resolution is, because that's not the purpose of scanning. If you just want to check which negatives are worthy of further processing, of course you don't have to generate and leaf through all the 60M images.
however, if a particular image is very much to your liking.. it's best to scan it at high resolution and process it after. In this case, an image that is finally saved in JPEG in, for example, 5bpp is for sure nicer than one that is from a poor scan and saved at the same rate. |
